  Abstract:
  The assessment of the biocompatibility of the product is essential and the main component for risk management. Many manufacturers are familiar with the biological assessment according to the ISO 10993 series of standards, but a product-specific selection of the tests to be carried out is still difficult. The ISO 18562 series of standards is applicable for products with which there is gas-mediated contact, e.g. which supply patients with air. The lecture is intended to provide an insight into both series of standards and to demonstrate smart testing approaches for assessing biocompatibility.
